International Students Meet in South Africa

The South African stage of the 13th International Student Meeting, which was held by UDEF in 61 countries and 111 cities with the slogan “Meet the World”, was held in Johannesburg this year.

Serdar Yörür, one of the officials of Yunes Emre Institute; Muhammed Muaz Özaslan, IHH South Africa Officer; Mücahit Yücel, UDEF Education Coordinator; Yüksel Timurdemir, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the South African National View Trust; and Kumral Mete Demirtaş General Manager attended the program, which started with the recitation of the Holy Quran.

Mücahit Yücel, UDEF Education Coordinator, who participated in the program representing UDEF, delivered his greeting speech. In his speech, Yücel drew attention to the increasing interest of international students in Turkey every year and said, “The number of international students in Turkey is increasing significantly. We are trying to stand by these fellow students who have come to Turkey from miles away to receive education. We are trying to establish a brotherhood of Ansar and Muhajir, and build bridges of heart with them. We are trying to provide guidance, counseling, scholarship and dormitory services, and we are trying to draw attention to the responsibility that falls on international students for the establishment of a peaceful world again.”

Kumral Mete Demirtaş, General Manager of the South African National View Trust, said, "I would like to thank UDEF for their efforts, these studies are very valuable both for the promotion of our country to the world and for international students."

In the program attended by many international students, the promotional presentations of Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Somalia, Algeria, South Africa, Pakistan and Egypt were made. The program ended with group photos and refreshments.
